This ball valve offers wear and corrosion resistance, easy operation and a self-cleaning function for pipelines carrying slurry or liquids containing impurities.

The source describes an optimized design using mixed discrete variables to balance durability and weight while meeting stress criteria. A welded steel-plate body provides strength and toughness and permits a thinner wall than a comparable cast construction.

The source lists a nominal diameter of 50–800 mm, pressure of 1.0–10.0 MPa and operating temperature of −40 to 120°C. Media include slurry, ash/slag slurry, crude oil, water and gas. Manual and electric actuation are available.

The source reports use in thermal power plant hydraulic ash removal and mine tailings pipelines, citing low flow resistance, reliable sealing and resistance to wear and corrosion. The ball and seat sealing surfaces are described as isolated from the medium during fully open and fully closed operation to reduce erosion.
