How to Select Cast Basalt Linings for Industrial Wear Protection

Start with the application

Cast basalt wear-resistant materials are used in power generation, coal washing, mining, metallurgy, chemical processing, cement and bulk-material handling. Start with the actual wear location: a chute, hopper, silo, cyclone or conveying pipeline. A product selected for one component is not automatically the best fit for another.

Choose a suitable product form

Tiles and slabs provide lining surfaces for chutes, silos, hoppers and chemical plant floors. Cast basalt pipes provide abrasion and corrosion resistant pipeline linings. Cast basalt lined steel pipe combines a basalt liner, an outer steel pipe and mortar filling; available configurations include straight pipes, elbows, tees and reducers.

Prepare useful project information

Provide equipment drawings, dimensions, material characteristics, quantities and operating conditions. For pipelines, include the required nominal diameter and fittings. For plates, identify the lining area, plate geometry and thickness requirements. These details help the technical team review specification choices and installation considerations.

Review documentation and installation

Confirm the requested physical and chemical indicators, inspection requirements and installation arrangements before ordering. Selection support should cover both the material and its use in the equipment. Product service life depends on the actual working conditions; a reported outcome from a particular project should not be treated as a universal service-life guarantee.
