Cast Basalt Lined Steel Pipe

Cast basalt lined steel pipe combines an internal basalt wear liner with an outer steel shell and a filling layer. The assembly is selected for abrasive conveying duties where lining performance, pressure design and connection details must work together.
  • Excellent wear resistance
  • Corrosion resistance
  • Customized specification selection

6
Composite pipe construction

A common construction uses a basalt liner inside a steel pipe with a mortar filling layer between them. The basalt forms the internal wear surface and the steel shell provides the structural envelope and connection interfaces.

Straight pipes and fittings such as elbows, tees and reducers should be specified as one coordinated line. Confirm bore, lining thickness, shell details, filling material and dimensional tolerances in the approved drawings; do not infer a pressure rating from the liner material.

6
Connections and installation interfaces

Composite pipelines can be designed with flanged, welded or suitable mechanical-joint connections. The final arrangement depends on the line design, access, maintenance strategy and compatibility with adjacent equipment.

Identify pumps, valves, supports and transitions during drawing review. Field welding or other hot work near a lined assembly requires an approved procedure that protects the liner and filling layer. Connection details and allowances must be agreed before fabrication.

6
Operating conditions and service expectations

Applications include ash and slag slurry lines and mineral-tailings pipelines. Review solids characteristics, chemistry, flow conditions, pressure, temperature and local impact before selecting a lining configuration.

Reported service lives from another plant or supplier are not a guarantee for a new project. Establish inspection access, acceptance documents and a monitoring plan for the actual line. Supply drawings and operating data to Chitong for a project-specific specification review.

Project specification review

Confirm dimensions, quantity, operating conditions, inspection documents and installation interfaces before ordering. The final supply specification is agreed for the individual project; generic material data do not establish an equipment pressure rating or a guaranteed service life.
