The client’s original steel pipes suffered severe abrasion from ore particles, causing frequent replacement and high downtime costs.
We recommended basalt cast stone lined composite pipes and elbows, supported with parameter selection, drawing review and strict factory inspection to meet the project schedule.
Service life increased greatly, with less shutdown and maintenance. Long-term repeat orders were obtained.
Document the mineral solids, particle-size distribution, solids concentration and liquid chemistry. Record pressure, temperature and available flow information, along with the route and required internal bore. These inputs help distinguish distributed abrasion from local impact at a fitting.
Mark elbows, tees, reducers, pump connections and changes in direction on the line drawing. Confirm fitting geometry, connections, supports and access for inspection. Select a complete supported pipe assembly rather than relying on a liner alone for structural capacity.
Check receiving condition and alignment before assembling the line. Follow the approved connection and commissioning procedures, and establish inspection points at expected wear locations. Adjust the maintenance plan using observed wear rather than a universal service-life figure.
